At Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) Safety and Security are our top priority.
We operate an international port facility with certification under the International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, since its enactment in July 2004.
Our security and safety protocols are developed in keeping with global best practice and in consultation with our partners, some of which include local law enforcement and regulatory agencies, the US Coast Guard under its Mega Ports Initiative, among several others.
KWL has been consistently commended for its best-in-class security architecture which incorporates closely monitored electronic access controls, wide ranging closed-circuit video surveillance, modern radiation portal monitors and x-ray examinations through a number of Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS) deployed at our facilities.
Our facilities are also subject to both internal and external safety and security audits which keep us proactive in the maintenance of our enviable record.
ACCESS & ID REQUIREMENTS:
All persons accessing KWL facilities will be subject to a search of their person, property and vehicle as a condition of entry.
Port users are required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes luminous vests, safety shoes, and may extend to other items such as protective gloves or safety helmets, determined by the nature of the business being conducted. Additionally, all regular port users must present a valid National Port Identification Card (NPIC) and may be required to provide proof of current certification from their affiliate organizations.
Non-routine visitors to the KWL Terminal will be provided with relevant PPE and must present nationally accepted identification (Driver’s License, Passport, Voters ID, etc).
The KWL terminal gate is opened for container receival and delivery from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Mondays to Fridays. Extended opening are announced from time to time, under special circumstances.
The KWL Terminal Operates at the three following security levels:
Security Level 1
The port operates at Security Level 1 when there is no indication of an imminent threat. This is our routine level of operations which is accompanied by standard security checks and control measures.
Security level 2
This level indicates that a particular segment or region of the industry may be under threat but no specific target has been identified. Additional protective measures may be sustained under Security Level 2 for substantial periods of time.
Security level 3
Under Security Level 3 the threat of an unlawful act against the port facility is imminent and requires additional protective measures until the threat is eliminated.
At Kingston Wharves Limited Saftey and Security are our top priority. We are therefore committed to undertaking the necessary preventive and maintenance steps to ensure a safe and secure environment for all our stakeholders.
Our facilities observe three Security Levels and are operated under the International Ship and Port Facilities Security Code (ISPS Code).
